Sri Krishna Janmastami is celebrated to mark the appearance day of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna is the original Supreme Personality of Godhead who appeared over 5000 years ago in Mathura, India.
The word “Krishna” means the all-attractive person. God is the person who possesses the following six opulences in perfect form: wisdom, beauty, strength, wealth, fame and renunciation. According to the scriptures, Krishna has all these six opulences in full.
Krishna appears in the material world whenever the practice of religion declines and irreligion takes over. In doing so, he delivers the pious and annihilates the miscreants, as well as re-establishes the principles of religion.
