Dharma day, Dharmachakra – Chokhor duchen (Tibetan Buddhism)

Tibetan Buddhists commemorate the turning of the Wheel of Dharma, the Buddha’s first teaching, during the Dharma Festival, called Chökhor Düchen in Tibetan. It falls on the 4th day of the 6th month in the lunar calendar. It is considered an auspicious time for making pilgrimages, circumambulating sacred sites, and making offerings.

Theravāda Buddhists celebrate this festival on the sixth full moon day of the lunar calendar. In Pali, it is called Asalha Puja.
